Purpose of this website -- This website was developed to assist Evangelical-Lutherans in locating congregations which use the historic liturgy of the Church in all their services and practice Closed Communion. Whether people are traveling on vacation or business or moving to a new home, this directory will help them find Evangelical-Lutheran congregations which have not adopted worship customs from the surrounding culture, such as "contemporary worship," "praise bands," "entertainment worship."

Synodical Affiliation -- The synodical affiliation of non-LCMS congregations is noted after the congregation's name.

Feedback -- Your feedback is important in the development of this website. How can the website be improved? Did this website help you? Do you believe that a congregation you visited should not be listed? If you have some feedback, email the directory publisher.

Call ahead -- If you will be attending one of the listed congregations, call ahead to make sure the service times are correct. Also, if you wish to commune at a congregation in fellowship with your congregation, it would be appropriate to call the pastor ahead of time so he can speak with you.

Criteria for listing -- Three criteria have been developed to determine whether a congregation should be listed on the ELLC directory: 1)The congregation must be committed to the exclusive use of the historic liturgies of the Church. 2) The congregation must practice Closed Communion. 3) The congregation must pass the "fussy-family test".
