Lakewood Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lakewood, WA
Evangelical Lutheran Synod / by Jesse Jacobsen / 182 views
Lakewood Lutheran was founded as a mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod in the mid 1940’s and has included a school since the early 1960’s. We are strategically located near Fort Lewis and McChord Airfield (now JBLM) to serve Lutheran military families. Through our synod, we are heirs of the Norwegian Lutheran tradition of worship, but over the years have received members from a wide variety of other Lutheran traditions. The formative history of the church in the mid-20th Century has blessed us with a strongly conservative sense of liturgy as practiced during that period, with The Lutheran Hymnal. We have now transitioned to our own synod’s hymnal, the Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary. We use the Common Service (Rite 2 in the ELH, p. 15 in the TLH), except on 5th Sundays, when we use Matins. Bible study is before the service at 9:45, but check the website calendar to be sure. We usually livestream up to the service of the sacrament on YouTube and Facebook without showing the congregation. Si querría una cita o servicio en español, por favor contactanos.
