New City Lutheran Church, Orlando, FL
Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod / by Jeremy Gallas / 20 views
New City Lutheran Church is a confessional, liturgical congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) serving the greater Orlando area. Whether you are a lifelong Orlando local or a traveler visiting Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or the surrounding major resorts, you are warmly invited to find a faithful, refreshing spiritual refuge with us. We invite you to take a break from the hustle of the theme parks and the city to receive the life-giving gifts of Jesus Christ.
Our Worship and Liturgical Life
Wherever the Gospel is purely proclaimed, and the Sacraments are rightly administered, Christ is truly present, and heaven meets earth.
- The Historic Liturgy: We proudly utilize the Historic Lutheran Liturgy (Lutheran Service Book), which beautifully unfolds the invisible realities of God’s grace through time-tested, reverent structure.
- Christ-Centered Preaching: Every sermon faithfully divides Law and Gospel, anchoring our daily lives entirely in the forgiveness of sins won by Christ on the cross.
- Sacred Hymnody: We sing the historic hymns of the Christian church, focusing on scripturally sound texts that confess Christ and His gifts.
Community Life and Christian Education
We believe the Holy Scriptures are the pure, clear fountain of truth for our congregation and the entire world. To cultivate deep roots in God’s Word, we provide regular opportunities for growth:
- Adult Bible Study: Sundays at 9:30 AM (prior to our 10:30 AM Divine Service).
- Media & Resources: Listen to our weekly podcast, “Fed by Ravens,” hosted by our pastors, where we walk through the Scriptures to keep our hearts anchored in Christ throughout the week.
A Pastoral Note on Holy Communion
In accordance with the Holy Scriptures and the historic witness of the Church, New City Lutheran Church practices Closed Communion.
We confess the plain words of Christ: that the bread we break is His true body and the wine we bless is His true blood. Because the Sacrament grants forgiveness, life, and salvation to those who receive it in faith, but can bring judgment if received apart from that confession (1 Corinthians 11), it is an act of deep pastoral care and doctrinal unity to guard the altar faithfully.
Information for Visitors:
If you are a member in good standing of an LCMS congregation (or a sister church in altar and pulpit fellowship), you are welcome to commune with us. We kindly ask that all visitors—including LCMS members—arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to introduce themselves to Pastor Fitzpatrick prior to the service so he may greet you and receive your confession. If you are joining us from another Christian tradition, we invite you to come forward during distribution with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a pastoral blessing.
