St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Topeka, KS
Verbum Domini Manet in Aeternum: “The Word of the Lord Endures Forever” (1 Peter 1:25). That’s the motto of the Reformation, and it’s the soul of the preaching ministry at St. John’s. With every sermon, we strive for a faithful and engaging proclamation of God’s Word that’s neither shallow nor beholden to cultural whims but instead holds fast to the timeless message of salvation through Christ alone.
The Divine Service lies at the heart of our mission at St. John’s. In the Divine Service, Christ comes to us with His gifts, offering forgiveness, reassurance, strength, and guidance through His Word and Sacraments—Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, and Confession & Absolution.
The services at St. John’s are traditional in both form and content, in keeping with the practices of the “one holy catholic and apostolic church.”
Bible Studies and Sunday School are regularly held from 9:45 till 10:45. Wednesday evenings from Labor Day through the 2nd week of May we hold Sound Words Academy starting at 5:00 p.m, including a meal, classes, catechesis for youth and adults, as well as “YACS” (Young Adults and College Students). The center of Sound Words Academy is Evening Prayer, Vespers or Compline at 7:00 p.m.
We invite you to join us to receive the Gospel in Word and Sacrament and to grow in the faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
St. John’s is a member of the Lutheran School Association of Topeka.
