Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church West Allis
At Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church our worship agrees with the words of Jesus when He said, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).* This means that what we do in worship is to be engaged in sincerely and truthfully, i.e. in agreement with God’s Word. At the center of our worship is the person and work of Jesus, the Word become flesh, as presented to us from the Holy Scriptures. As the apostle Paul wrote to the young pastor Timothy: “… and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).
In the church’s liturgy, the Bible speaks to us in a Christ-centered manner – and we speak God’s words back to Him and to one another. The hymns also speak to our hearts the saving work of God for us in Jesus, His Son. Trinity is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, which confesses that The Book of Concord (1580) is a true doctrinal explanation of what God’s Word says.
Our church uses THE HISTORIC ONE-YEAR LECTIONARY AND UTILIZES the historic liturgy in its Divine Services drawn from Lutheran Service Book (CPH 2007). BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THAT THE DIVINE SERVICE IS FIRST AND FOREMOST AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE OUR LORD’S GIFTS FROM HIM, We celebrate the Lord’s Supper each Sunday/Monday, for those eligible to rightly receive it. We hope you also appreciate the importance of both declaring and sharing the truth of God’s Word and the gospel of Christ as we strive to do faithfully, by the power of the Holy Spirit at work through His Holy Word and Sacraments. You are warmly invited to join us any time for worship here in His house of prayer at Trinity.
